Grant Goodall’s overview of conlangs in the Annual Review of Linguistics is similarly general and generally similar to Schreyer’s 2021 article, albeit – naturally – with a focus on linguistic issues. Of interest here is his section on conlangs created solely for ‘psycholinguistic experiments’ (2022: 533). Despite caveating that the fact that both the artificial environment of an experiment – being very different from natural language acquisition – and the often simple nature of such conlangs may affect results, Goodall explicitly cites their value in experimental work, supporting a relevant use of conlangs in (psycho)linguistic work intersecting with neurodiversity studies.
